Every release of Charted Apps, newest first.
v1.5.0
Store listings and alternatives
Every app page now shows its App Store listing in full, every app gets a list of alternatives, and a claimed app is listed on the pages of the apps it competes with.
- The store listing on every app page
- The App Store description, screenshots and listing facts (rating, seller, category, price, version, content rating) are on every app page, claimed or not, in one layout. The description shows its opening and expands to the full text. Milestones sit under it. It is refreshed with the rest of the listing, on a visit to a page older than 5 hours and on the 6 hour poll.
- Alternatives to every app
- Each app page lists similar apps, and an app with three or more gets its own page at /a/{appId}/alternatives with a description of every alternative. Apps with verified RevenueCat data come first, ordered by new customers in the last 28 days. Unclaimed apps follow and carry no number.
- Matched on words and on meaning
- Two apps match when their App Store name, subtitle and description share the same distinctive words, or when the listings mean the same thing. A listing written in an unusual voice still gets alternatives.
- Owners pick their own alternatives
- The owner of a claimed app can search the board and the App Store and choose up to 20 apps to list as its alternatives. The page says when a list was picked by the owner. Verified apps still come first, by new customers.
- Your app on your competitors' pages
- When an owner picks alternatives, their app is added to the alternatives list of each app picked. A competitor whose own owner has picked their list is the exception: that list stays theirs. App pages say which apps this one is listed as an alternative to.
- One place to claim
- An unclaimed app page has a single claim section that says what claiming gives the owner: a rank on the board, a verified growth curve, and their own list of alternatives.
- The home board lists what people added
- Verified apps and listings added by a person appear on the home board. Listings added as competitors stay off it. They keep their own pages and alternatives lists, show on category pages, and appear in search.
- Search reaches the App Store
- Searching the board also shows matching App Store apps that are not on the board yet. Add one and it gets its own page.
- Readable by search engines and AI assistants
- Alternatives pages are in the sitemap and described in llms.txt, carry structured data for the list and each app, and have their own share card. New and changed pages are reported to IndexNow every 6 hours and on each release. App icons are open to crawlers.
